Brilliant Traces
Are We In Love Productions’ Off-Broadway debut.
December 6–8, 2024, Playhouse 46
Title: About the Play
Written by Cindy Lou Johnson, Brilliant Traces is a stark, intimate two-hander set in the isolation of Alaska.
In a remote cabin, HENRY HARRY lies sleeping — a hermit whose quiet life is interrupted when ROSANNAH DELUCE bursts in, fleeing a blizzard and an impending wedding. Both scarred and isolated, they are drawn together through the fragile need for connection.
Brilliant Traces is a play about survival — not just of the body in winter, but of the heart in solitude.
A Note on Individuation
Individuation by Avah Pevlor Johnson:
If I must be wrung through the paradox,
—broken into wholeness,
wring me around the moon;
pelt me with particles from the dark side.
Fling me into space;
hide me in a black hole.
Let me dance with devils on dead stars.
Let my scars leave brilliant traces,
for my highborn soul seeks its hell—
in high places.
